Welcome to 7th Grade
What We Are Learning:
Social Studies: Through an understanding of Geography, Archeology and Anthroplogy, we start with the Neolithic and Paleolithic ages and follow the advances of humankind from one civilization to the next.
Math: With new math concepts every week, we learn that there are many ways to arrive at the correct answer. Seventh grade Academy students are expected to learn Alegebra through an accelerated curriculum.
English: Once we've mastered the basics of sentence structure, we will explore writing through short stories, essays, and poetry. We are also learning ten new vocabulary words a week.
Count That Day Lost
If you sit down at set of sun
And count the acts that you have done,
And, counting, find
One self-denying deed, one word
That eased the heart of him who heard,
One glance most kind
That fell like sunshine where it went-
Then you may count that day well spent.
But if, through all the livelong day,
You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay-
If, through it all
You've nothing done that you can trace
That brought the sunshine to one face-
No act most small
That helped some soul and nothing cost-
Then count that day as worse than lost.
-- George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans)
