My background is mainly in the life sciences. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.. I also have a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. I practiced medicine for over 20 years in Gilbert, Arizona. I have also taught human anatomy and physiology at Mesa Community College in Mesa, AZ. In addition, I have taught in the medical assistant program at Brookline College in Mesa, AZ. I have been a science teacher at the Connor Academy since 2015 which I enjoy immensely. I love teaching grades 1 through 8 which is challenging but also very rewarding.

However, my first degree was a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from BYU Provo. I have taught Spanish or English as a second language for a total of seven years, two of which were in Saudi Arabia. I have also lived in Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, and Costa Rica. While teaching science at the Academy, I also try to incorporate some Spanish to reinforce the students' Spanish training outside of their Spanish classroom. In addition, I have studied Latin, French, German, Italian, and Arabic. I am very committed to the importance of learning a second language in today's world.

I enjoy traveling, too. I have visited over twenty-five countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. I believe in studying other cultures and learning as much about the world around me as possible.

My hobbies and interests include running, working out, dancing, singing, reading, gardening, and genealogy.
