Stepping Into the Spotlight!

This week, Alpine 8th graders took center stage in drama class as they presented their monologues!

Monologues may be a solo act, but they help students build some serious skills—from confidence and public speaking to expression, creativity, and communication. Students learn how to use their voice, body language, and emotions to bring a character and story to life.

Once upon a time, Connor’s second graders celebrated the joys of storytelling!

They wrapped up their Fairy Tales & Tall Tales unit by dressing up as their favorite fairy tale or tall tales characters and feasting on Paul Bunyan’s famous flapjacks!

It was a happily ever after kind of day! A huge thank-you to our families for helping make it so magical!

A big thank you to Beth Keck for visiting our Alpine Academy 8th grade science students!

Beth shared about her work with Search and Rescue, including running search dogs in a variety of weather conditions and the technology used to communicate during emergency situations. Our students loved learning how science, technology, and teamwork come together in real-world emergency response!

Today in 5th Grade DARE, our students got to experience the famous “beer goggles”!

The goggles simulate some of the effects that alcohol and drugs can have on vision, coordination, and movement. Students took turns tossing a ball to one another while wearing the goggles—and catching it was definitely harder than it looked! If they missed, they had to keep the goggles on while finding and picking up the ball before trying again.

It was a fun (and eye-opening!) way for our 5th graders to experience firsthand how impaired vision and coordination can affect everyday activities.

A big thank-you to Officer Case for being such an amazing DARE officer! Our 5th graders absolutely love him!

The Alpine Volleyball team brought the energy to an off-season tournament against local district schools and came home with a 2nd-place finish! What a fun way to keep competing, building skills, and getting ready for the season ahead.

And did you know? At Alpine, students can participate in basketball, volleyball, AND cross country starting in 6th grade! While many district schools begin these opportunities in 7th grade, Alpine 6th graders can jump right in and get involved.

More opportunities. More teams. More ways to find your thing at Alpine.

Congratulations, Falcons! We’re proud of you!

✨ Connor Academy Teacher Spotlight ✨

Every great reader starts with a spark, and at Connor Academy, Mrs. Lori Turpin has been helping ignite that spark since the very beginning! We’re excited to shine the reading-themed spotlight on Connor Academy’s new Reading Intervention Teacher, and Title 1 Director.

Mrs. Turpin has been teaching for 20 years, including time spent teaching kindergarten for 9 years, 2nd grade for 9 years, and 4th grade for 2 years. As a founding teacher at Connor Academy, she has played an important role in shaping the strong learning community we have today.

Her favorite part of being a teacher is helping students learn new things and seeing their excitement when they discover something on their own. Reading has always been her passion, both as a student and as a teacher, and she loves watching students grow into confident, capable readers.

Mrs. Turpin is married to her husband Jim, and together they have four daughters and three sons-in-law. They are also blessed with five grandchildren who bring so much joy and energy into their lives, along with their beloved Morkie, Jojo.

Outside of school, she enjoys going on adventures with her family, exercising, gardening, cooking, and watching reality TV. Her favorite book is The Four Agreements, her favorite movie is Ever After, and her favorite show is Survivor. She is inspired by her mother, who taught her the importance of hard work, respect, courage, and finding joy in everyday life.

Mrs. Turpin is especially excited to begin her new role as Reading Intervention Teacher and Title 1 Director, continuing her lifelong passion for helping students grow as readers.

Thank you, Mrs. Turpin, for being part of Connor Academy from the very beginning and for helping every student discover the joy and power of reading!

✨ Connor Academy Teacher Spotlight ✨

Open a new chapter with us as we shine a spotlight on Mrs. Megan Eddie!

Mrs. Eddie has been a valued part of Connor Academy for over 16 years. She began as a dedicated “book fair mom,” then served as a kindergarten educational assistant for three years, and has spent the past 12 years teaching both kindergarten and in the library.

Her favorite part of teaching is the students and sharing great literature with them. It’s no surprise that literature is her favorite subject to teach. When she was a student, her favorite subject was health.

Family is everything to Mrs. Eddie. She has been married to her husband, Cam, for 27 years, and together they have three children—Taylor, Ashton, and Peri—as well as a wonderful son-in-law, Callen. They enjoy spending time outdoors and going on adventures together, as well as relaxing at home.

In her free time, she enjoys baking, cleaning and organizing, watching old movies, and reading. She especially loves Little Women in every version, both books and films.

Mrs. Eddie is inspired by her Grammy, who at 97 years old has been a role model for how to be a loving wife, mother, and teacher. Her guiding philosophy is to love and lead with kindness and to laugh along the way.

She feels lucky to be part of Connor Academy and wants all Connor students to know:
“I will always love you!”

We are grateful for Mrs. Eddie and the warmth, dedication, and love she brings to Connor Academy each day!

¡Todos demos un gran saludo a la Señora Romney!

Meet Señora Romney, a valued member of Connor Academy who teaches both Computer Science and Spanish with passion and care. She has been part of the Connor family for the past two years, bringing warmth, creativity, and a genuine love of learning into her classroom each day.

Before joining Connor, she taught music in Michigan for three years, where she especially cherished leading Middle School Band. Those years in music education hold a special place in her heart, as she found joy in helping students discover confidence, teamwork, and expression through music.

Her favorite part of being a teacher is seeing the moment when learning “clicks” for students and they are able to demonstrate mastery. She values scheduled breaks that allow time to explore the world, believing there is always more to learn beyond the classroom.

When she was a student, music was her favorite subject, and she continues to play a variety of instruments, including the tuba, euphonium, trombone, bass trombone, string bass, piano, and ukulele.

Señora Romney shares:
“Soy de Oregón. Tengo cinco hijos. Tengo siete gallinas. Me encanta viajar. Me encanta aprender. Mi color favorito es el verde. I am from Oregon. I have five children. I have seven hens. I love to travel. I love to learn. My favorite color is green.”

She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Idaho State University. Outside of education, she enjoys traveling the world and exploring different cultures through their cuisine.

Inspired by Fred Rogers, Señora Romney’s mission is to ensure every student feels valued and supported. She strives to create a classroom where students feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and build the confidence to step outside their comfort zones.

Thank you Señora Romney, for creating a classroom where learning is an adventure and every student knows they belong!
