Every great reader starts with a spark, and at Connor Academy, Mrs. Lori Turpin has been helping ignite that spark since the very beginning! We’re excited to shine the reading-themed spotlight on Connor Academy’s new Reading Intervention Teacher, and Title 1 Director.
Mrs. Turpin has been teaching for 20 years, including time spent teaching kindergarten for 9 years, 2nd grade for 9 years, and 4th grade for 2 years. As a founding teacher at Connor Academy, she has played an important role in shaping the strong learning community we have today.
Her favorite part of being a teacher is helping students learn new things and seeing their excitement when they discover something on their own. Reading has always been her passion, both as a student and as a teacher, and she loves watching students grow into confident, capable readers.
Mrs. Turpin is married to her husband Jim, and together they have four daughters and three sons-in-law. They are also blessed with five grandchildren who bring so much joy and energy into their lives, along with their beloved Morkie, Jojo.
Outside of school, she enjoys going on adventures with her family, exercising, gardening, cooking, and watching reality TV. Her favorite book is The Four Agreements, her favorite movie is Ever After, and her favorite show is Survivor. She is inspired by her mother, who taught her the importance of hard work, respect, courage, and finding joy in everyday life.
Mrs. Turpin is especially excited to begin her new role as Reading Intervention Teacher and Title 1 Director, continuing her lifelong passion for helping students grow as readers.
Thank you, Mrs. Turpin, for being part of Connor Academy from the very beginning and for helping every student discover the joy and power of reading!

Open a new chapter with us as we shine a spotlight on Mrs. Megan Eddie!
Mrs. Eddie has been a valued part of Connor Academy for over 16 years. She began as a dedicated “book fair mom,” then served as a kindergarten educational assistant for three years, and has spent the past 12 years teaching both kindergarten and in the library.
Her favorite part of teaching is the students and sharing great literature with them. It’s no surprise that literature is her favorite subject to teach. When she was a student, her favorite subject was health.
Family is everything to Mrs. Eddie. She has been married to her husband, Cam, for 27 years, and together they have three children—Taylor, Ashton, and Peri—as well as a wonderful son-in-law, Callen. They enjoy spending time outdoors and going on adventures together, as well as relaxing at home.
In her free time, she enjoys baking, cleaning and organizing, watching old movies, and reading. She especially loves Little Women in every version, both books and films.
Mrs. Eddie is inspired by her Grammy, who at 97 years old has been a role model for how to be a loving wife, mother, and teacher. Her guiding philosophy is to love and lead with kindness and to laugh along the way.
She feels lucky to be part of Connor Academy and wants all Connor students to know:
“I will always love you!”
We are grateful for Mrs. Eddie and the warmth, dedication, and love she brings to Connor Academy each day!

¡Todos demos un gran saludo a la Señora Romney!
Meet Señora Romney, a valued member of Connor Academy who teaches both Computer Science and Spanish with passion and care. She has been part of the Connor family for the past two years, bringing warmth, creativity, and a genuine love of learning into her classroom each day.
Before joining Connor, she taught music in Michigan for three years, where she especially cherished leading Middle School Band. Those years in music education hold a special place in her heart, as she found joy in helping students discover confidence, teamwork, and expression through music.
Her favorite part of being a teacher is seeing the moment when learning “clicks” for students and they are able to demonstrate mastery. She values scheduled breaks that allow time to explore the world, believing there is always more to learn beyond the classroom.
When she was a student, music was her favorite subject, and she continues to play a variety of instruments, including the tuba, euphonium, trombone, bass trombone, string bass, piano, and ukulele.
Señora Romney shares:
“Soy de Oregón. Tengo cinco hijos. Tengo siete gallinas. Me encanta viajar. Me encanta aprender. Mi color favorito es el verde. I am from Oregon. I have five children. I have seven hens. I love to travel. I love to learn. My favorite color is green.”
She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Idaho State University. Outside of education, she enjoys traveling the world and exploring different cultures through their cuisine.
Inspired by Fred Rogers, Señora Romney’s mission is to ensure every student feels valued and supported. She strives to create a classroom where students feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and build the confidence to step outside their comfort zones.
Thank you Señora Romney, for creating a classroom where learning is an adventure and every student knows they belong!

Why was the math book sad? Because it had too many problems!
Luckily, Mr. Casey Hyde is here to help solve them! Meet Alpine Academy’s new 7th Grade Math teacher, who is bringing his love of math, science, baseball, and plenty of dad jokes to the classroom!
This is Mr. Hyde’s first year teaching, and after spending several years in a different career, he can’t wait to begin his teaching journey.
Mr. Hyde is looking forward to helping students reach their goals, discover their potential, and see how they can be mathematicians in the real world. His favorite subjects from college included analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, calculus, and biochemistry/molecular biology, so it’s safe to say he loves learning!
Outside the classroom, Mr. Hyde enjoys coaching youth baseball, playing adult softball, camping, hiking, fishing, and going on adventures with his wife, Kelsee, and their four kids. When it comes to movies, Mr. Hyde is all about the “popcorn flicks”—give him some action, adventure, and comedy, and he’s happy! He’s also proudly admitted to being a bit of a Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Marvel nerd. When it comes to reading, Mr. Hyde usually sticks with nonfiction. However, his family recently convinced him to step outside his usual reading territory and listen to the Harry Potter audiobooks for the very first time. To his surprise, he has to admit…he’s actually having a lot of fun with them!
One of Mr. Hyde’s biggest inspirations is baseball legend Ken Griffey Jr. Growing up watching Griffey play, he admired his integrity, loyalty, and work ethic—qualities Mr. Hyde hopes to bring into his own classroom and life.
One thing students can definitely expect in Mr. Hyde’s classroom? Plenty of well-timed, groan-worthy dad jokes. He loves a good pun almost as much as he loves a good scientific article or baseball game!
Help us give Mr. Casey Hyde a warm Alpine welcome! We’re excited to have him on the team and can’t wait to see the impact he makes this year!

Let's turn the page to a new Teacher Spotlight and meet Mrs. Stirling, one of our amazing 4th grade teachers at Connor! This upcoming school year marks her 15th year of teaching, 12 of those right here at Connor, and her 6th year in 4th grade.
One of Mrs. Stirling’s favorite parts of teaching is creating lessons. She loves finding the best ways to explain concepts and making learning fun and meaningful for her students. While math is her favorite subject to teach, she actually loved English most as a student, inspired by a great teacher and her passion for writing.
Family is at the heart of everything she does. She and her husband have four daughters and three granddaughters, and by the end of the year, all of their daughters will be married, bringing their total to five grandchildren!

She also enjoys biking, camping, kayaking, swimming, reading, and doing puzzles. Her favorite books are historical fiction, she loves learning something new while getting lost in a great story.

Teaching from the heart comes naturally to Mrs. Isabell Rascon! We're excited to shine the spotlight on our wonderful 1st Grade teacher.
Mrs. Rascon has been teaching for 13 years total—11 years at Connor Academy and 2 years in Head Start at Fort Hall. One of her favorite parts of teaching is those unforgettable “light bulb” moments when everything clicks for her students. She also loves helping children develop a genuine joy and love for learning.
While she enjoys teaching all subjects, math is her favorite. It was also her favorite subject growing up, which makes it especially meaningful for her to share that passion with her students.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Rascon describes life as wonderfully busy and full of love. At one point, she had four children under the age of three—and even three in diapers at the same time—which she proudly survived! Her home is filled with laughter, chaos, and lots of names starting with “I” and “J,” which keeps things interesting. Most importantly, her family means everything to her.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading books, watching movies, and being outdoors. Some of her favorites include the Goosebumps books, the movie A Goofy Movie, and the TV series Yellowstone.
Mrs. Rascon is inspired by Albert Einstein and his curiosity about the world. She admires his love of math and his dedication to asking questions and never stopping the pursuit of knowledge.
In her classroom, Mrs. Rascon strives to create a safe, welcoming space where every student feels comfortable, heard, and valued. She believes every child should know they belong and that their voice matters.
Connor Academy is grateful for the kindness, dedication, and encouragement Mrs. Rascon brings to her classroom every day!

Get your books ready and pack your curiosity—it's time to explore new worlds and old ones! Please give a warm Alpine welcome to Ms. Kim Andersen, our new 7th Grade ELA & History teacher!
Ms. Andersen has been teaching for two years, and this will be her first year teaching at Alpine. She loves building meaningful relationships with her students and helping them learn and grow each day.
History is her favorite subject to teach, while health and chemistry were her favorite subjects when she was in school. Outside the classroom, Ms. Andersen is a wife and mom of four. She and her family live in Grace, Idaho, where they enjoy gardening, camping, and hiking together.
One of her favorite books is Wonder, and when it's time to relax, you'll likely find her watching The Office. She is inspired by Marjorie Hinckley's reminder:
"Don't wish away your days, waiting for better ones ahead. There is always, always, always something to be grateful for."
Ms. Andersen has a special message for her students:
"I am so excited to be the 7th Grade ELA and History teacher this year! I have loved getting to know all my favorite kids over the last year and a half, and I can't wait to make even more memories together. Get ready for a fun and exciting year of learning and growing!"
We're excited to welcome Ms. Andersen to the Alpine family and can't wait to see all the wonderful things she and her students accomplish this school year!
